MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE
The team is made up of volunteers, all Sayers Common residents, who felt committed to the idea and felt they had available time and useful skills. They are working hard to create a community shop for the village. Now that we have established a formal legal structure a formal Management Committee has been established and is made up of Malcolm Heather, Bob Sampson, Rachel Webb, Wim Winters, Lynn Heather, Pip Sampson and Michael Bailey.
MALCOLM HEATHER
Chairman
Malcolm moved to the village with his family in 1998. He worked for 33 years as an accountant, mainly in London. After retiring in 2009, he became a Parish Councillor because there were many issues he felt needed addressing within our village, in particular a need to re-build a sense of community. With Lynn, he has visited and researched a number of Community Shops and is confident that such a shop here would be a great
attribute and would help create a sense of community and pride.
RACHEL WEBB
Secretary
Rachel, who has lived in Sayers Common for twelve years, joined the committee because she is passionate about getting a Community Shop for the village. Her background in IT Projects helps in her role as Communications Lead for the committee.
BOB SAMPSON
Treasurer
Bob has lived in the parish for over thirty years and has been a Parish Coucillor for around 20 of them. He is a founder Trustee of Hurst Festival and is currently Chairman of Hurstperpoint Players. Bob is a freelance designer with a lifetime's experience in advertising and marketing.
JEFF BAGLEY
Jeff moved to Sayers Common during the first phase of the Berrylands Farm development in 1994. He has previously been on the Sayers Common Village Hall Committee and was involved the extensive renovations to the interior of the Hall. He believes that the villlage should have its own shop and be able to supply local produce to local people.
MICHAEL BAILEY
PIP SAMPSON
Pip is a member of the Hurst Festival committee and Secretary of Mid Sussex Riding for the Disabled. She is a freelance illustrator by trade and a keen gardener by inclination. Pip is a great believer in healthy food and organic produce and believes a Community Shop in our village will be a great advantage to villagers.
LYNN HEATHER
Lynn moved to Sayers Common in 1998 with Malcolm and their 3 children, who were then teenagers. Lynn was a primary school teacher and served on the PTA and as a Teacher-Governor.
The children leaving home has left more time to follow personal interests and her visits to Community Shops with Malcolm have fired her enthusiasm for achieving one in our village.
WIM WINTERS
Wim has lived in the village for nearly 40 years, bringing up our four children. He has a herd of pedigree Galloways (black cows in case you are wondering),and the odd llama or two. When the animals and wife allow, Wim goes to Blues/Rock gigs.
Wim has become involved in the Community Shop, as he believes that the heart and soul of a village needs to have a focus - and in our case its the Shop. He see this as a long term project - meeting the needs of today, but in the longer term benefiting the whole community, bringing everyone closer.
